First batch of XXX Beans of the season.

Contains German Sausage, Bacon, and a Ham bone; hence part of the reason for the name XXX. Half a stick of Butter, Jalapenos, salt, cayene pepper and a generous swirl of Maple Syrup rounded out the seasoning.

Simmered at about 5 bubbles a minute all night in my #10 Griswold Dutch Oven.

My Bride fixed some sweet cornbread to sop up the pot-likker.

Man O Man it was good on a chilly Monday night!

To keep the vegetarian meals rolling how’s about some of my wife’s ratatouille prepared with the last of this season’s garden produce. And to accompany it I whipped up a slab of cornbread (butter delivery device) and both cooked in each of our great-grandmother’s Griswold cookware. We devoured this on our own chilly Monday evening and the special ingredients that she adds to give it a little bit of “heat” (per my request) did not hurt.
Notice the layers of “flavoring” that comes from a century of lovingly prepared family meals in that cast iron skillet. How could one ever cook in these and not think about the family members and friends that have eaten meals prepared in ‘em?
Pretty good eats.

The Model 10s are like the Model 1 for every Randall Knife enthusiast.

Model 10s are in or should be in every kitchen and campfire along with the cast iron stuff.

I don't have any Griswold cast iron stuff but Lodge Forge stuff.

Don't mean to throw an insult but Lodge to Griswold is like Buck to Randall.

Buck makes a damn good knife and I used a 110 for years but it aint a Randall.

Same with Lodge. It aint Griswold!

Wayne, Agree on 10's and 1's! Coach, Agree on Bucks and Randall's!

I'll let you two hagle on the Lodge n Griswold's..... I just use what I got and not even sure what they are... probably close 100 years old!
