I don't ever feel the need to use the wrist lanyard when gutting my deer. In fact I like to be able to sit it down and have both hands free. But I always use the lanyard when rinsing the blood and fat from the knife in the nearby Creek or River. If you drop the knife in moving water then it's gone more than likely.

Be it far from me to throw water on your fire "but" let's keep in mind what this knife is for.
Wrist thong: I like them and use them on my "users" for several things, among them are:
* Tied properly to prevent losing your knife overboard. I think there is a thread on this.
* To "pull" my knife out of something it is stuck in. This is especially true when you kill wild boars and sows, in your trap, and the kill doesn't go quite as "clean" as it should. (& it happens)
* The "most" use is to hang the knife, while skinning & dressing game, to do other tasks as well as to hang it up to "dry", once your cleaning is done and the knife is well washed/rinsed with soap & water.
Something can be lost to integrity of a true survival/fighter when the handle material is drilled for a wrist thong, however. What should "also be considered" is a butt cap on this knife. It will give a full tang throughout the entire length of this bad boy..."&"...you can still have a wrist thong, without any compromise, except the fact that it uses up "2" options.
Just Sayin' Crew (& you know: I don't care "what we build")
Stay sharp, Capt. Chris

OK CREW,
Looks as though another option has been selected, although, once again, without a formal "vote". By my calculations the preference for hilt material stands at:

* Nickel silver- 11
* Brass- 2

If there are no objections, I think we'll "call it". So...Just to recap:

* RMK Model #5-7"
* Carbon steel blade
* Sawteeth (Option #1)
* Nickel silver single hilt (Option #2)
* Squared top hilt- N/C (Option #3)
...We've got 3 options on this bad boy and are only being charged for "2"! Good job! Let's talk "SPACERS"!

* Dress it up
* Standards

Best, Capt. Chris

Tom,
I have G-10 and I "also" have brown/reddish G-3...that's not a problem..."BUT"...on any CDT RMK you have to have "5" spacers at the hilt...So...WHICH ONES? I know what I'd do..."BUT"...it ain't up to me.
Best, Capt. Chris

Would have preferred to have chosen the handle material first, but....
Red/White & Blue

I understand Mike. I know where you're going. My choice in spacers would not have made a difference, with regards to the handle material, color or anything else. You can't go wrong with the RMK standard red, white & blue. Other options, like all black spacers or all red spacers are also at N/C, therefore an option without screwing with our 5-limit!
We'll see where this is going. I feel, any minute now, our "Chief" is going to pipe up for a nickel silver collar...(Wait for it...Wait for it...Drum roll)??
Thanks, Capt. Chris
