Can the large gambler be had with a commando shaped handle? Just thinking that with the "right shaped" handle, it would be a pretty good all around outdoors knife. Thanks for your time, and what you do for the forum.

1st: Griff: "No" to both questions 2nd: Large Gambler can be ordered with a variety of handle shapes, yes! Here's one of my favorites, pictured below. Hope this helps . Best, Capt. Chris
Thanks for the reply, Captain. On a knife like the large gambler, would the addition of a brass butt make it"butt heavy", as opposed to the aluminium butt? I'm kicking around ideas, and would like to have a neutral balanced knife, not really blade heavy, or butt heavy.

If you do brass it would have to be ordered "thin" and, perhaps, "rounded" to save weight. Most 1/4" stock, 5" blades from the Randall shop have more tip weight than a Large Gambler. The LG is too narrow and too "small-tipped" to allow for a generous amount of brass (and not be "butt-heavy"). Hope this helps, Capt. Chris

Per earlier posts, in answer to the question of a butt cap on a Large Gambler: I spoke with Scott yesterday and he informs me that, when ordering a butt cap on a Large Gambler, the shop automatically supplies the "thin" version. Hope this helps, Capt. Chris
