Actually Wayne, in this part of the South, it’s “tacklebox, pocket AND vest.” In our world today,(yesterday & tomorrow) there’s just something comforting about the little revolver.

Duke,
I agree with you. I have several Charter snubbies but, don't laugh, the most carried piece is a North American Arms Black Widow in 22 mag.
A 22 mag mini was always in my had when I would be "interviewing" an unsavory character in a dark alley on the job.

Is it equal to your 38 snubbies? Of course not,but it would afford me the time to get to the bigger piece.

Every motor vehicle stop,I had it in the palm of my hand. Everything checks out OK? Then it is slid in behind the belt buckle.

I do "Jelly Bryce Drills" with it. Playing card size target at 6 feet. Unload all 5 rounds as fast as possible.

6 feet? Yep,that's the average combat distance.

Probably snake distance too???

A few more of my S&W’s….Two Model 15’s (2” & 4”) and a 6” Model 28 “Highway Patrolman”.

I actually carried a similar 6” Model 28 when I first became a LEO back in the 70’s and worked for a city PD. I later switched to a 4” as it was a little easier to carry. In the early 80’s when I transferred over to the Sheriff’s Office, we were issued the 4” Model 15.

Capt.--

Before you opened it up, I thought you were referring to the grip screw coming in from the right side instead of the left. That is also different. (But not noteworthy with regard to function.)

Capt,
When I got orders in '64 to go to 'Nam,superimposed across the orders were NO PRIVATELY OWNED FIREARMS ALLOWED IN RVN/SEA.

Yep,I packed my Model 27 that I had S&W cut the bbl back to 4 inches. There were more privately owned weapons on that plane then in probably all of RVN!!!

A couple of years later,S&W offered a 2 1/2 version of the Model 19 which I was able to acquire.

Ralph Friedman, who is the most decorated detective in NYPD and has been in a number of fatal gunfights, still swears by a Detective Special.

Right now,in my pocket is a North American Black Widow in 22 mag. I do not feel undergunned.

Keith,Jordan,Skelton amongst many others all preferred wheelguns. Me too.
