That’s true. Maybe some hogs will freeze too!

I was listing to Hannity yesterday and he had a weatherman saying that Tx., Ok., and Ark. were going to get hit with a winter storm that is as bad as a Cat.5 hurricane. He says that this storm and cold will likely be as bad a the winter of 1899, as well as I remember that was the year that hundreds of thousands of cattle died. Now we have the ability to get feed to those cattle.

Yup, they "upgraded" ours to -2 on Tuesday morning as well.

3-7" of snow Sunday night and Monday morning with another 3" coming in on Wednesday.

Weatherman said the Sunday night event is dry snow, so lots of white stuff blowing around. Wednesday event is wet snow, much greater possibility of knocking down power lines.

WFAA (DFW area ABC station) dropped some statistics regarding number of days at or below freezing in/near Dallas*.

* - Official place of measure today is DFW airport. It wasn't built until '69-73. Prior to that the official measure location was Dallas Love field. Don't know where official measure location was before 1939.

For the last couple of days we have had sleet and freezing rain. It is just before dark and the ice is moving down the mountain toward me, I may be with power soon. The ice is less than a quarter mile. This shot of my bamboo earlier.

I hate ice.

Remember sliding just under 1/2 mile back-and-forth on the freeway early one morning trying to steer into the drift, but only making it worse with each attempt to avoid the concrete barrier on the left and the shoulder on the right.

The salt truck I was following took the exit, then I immediately hit black ice on the through lanes.

Four-wheel drive was no help, having the Pathfinder in gear and not accelerating or braking did not help.

Did not flip it, finally ended up spun 180-degrees on the right shoulder aimed back the way I had come.

Then, having the road to myself, I turned back onto the ice and went on more carefully where I needed to be.

Not to mention not knowing there was ice at the end of concrete steps in the dark one night, my feet going straight out from under me, and ripping the rotator cuff as I tried the old Judo trick of twisting to fall on the side and caught my full weight on the right hand to prevent my head hitting the step. Ouch, I thought I had broken the arm up near the deltoid.

Just saying, for all you who are suffering through the stuff now, stay safe inside.

Larry

I fell on ice in our local market parking lot and my right hand and arm have never been the same. That was 3 years ago and still have about half the movement in my right hand and arm. The older we get, the worse injuries heal, beware and be careful.
