Not enough information to make too many judgements about “bringing enough gun”, BUT I’m going to say the more practice one can do the more likely of a kill shot when really needs it, whatever the heck caliber one chooses……IMHO.

Duke,
I tend to agree with you on that for sure.

Some of the famous African hunters used what many consider to be small calibers for elephants.

"But" they made sure to carefully place the shot for a brain kill.

For other game...bigger was better. They did not expect to take down buffalo or rhino with what we would consider to be a deer rifle.

And nobody who knows much about it would expect to defend against a moose with a .380 pistol.

In my opinion a .380, or 9mm Kurz is ok if you can hit minute of eyeball. wink

Excellent pill placement, Tom! I’ve brought down more than a couple of those ferocious Blue Ridge gray squirrels with my bb pistol and that very shot, from
15-30 ft.
Been a few years……maybe time again.

This lady has up-gunned from her .380 pocket pistol for racing in the Alaska wilderness. Not clear from this article which of the three guns she will carry--the .44 Magnum, the Glock of unspecified caliber, or the shotgun.

Larry,
More than likely, the semi auto pistol will be in 10MM as that seems to be the popular gun/caliber combination.

That's what I carry, a Glock 20SF(short frame) 10mm, 180 gr FMJ, 15+ 1 in the chamber. Diamond D Guide Chest holster with extra mag.

Pap,
Years ago, when Colt came out with their 1911 in 10MM,I tested one for the magazine and found the recoil not to be that bad.

I think that in the Glock the grip is better configured and the recoil would be better handled.

Seems that a lot of folks use the Diamond D chest rig. I have one for my Ruger 44 Alaskan and am really pleased with it.
