Pap:

Wonder if you get the .22 mag first, can they fit a .22 lr cylinder to it?

Also, can you get the .22 mag in Stainless?

The 351PD is titanium but blued. I'm looking into finding one at a decent price. I've got my local FFL fellow trying to find one. I'll either keep the 317 or give it to one of the grandkids.

I have a couple of favorites. One I shoot and one I don't. The old 45 just keeps going strong.

There is something about those super fly weight 22 snubbies that make them special.

Sidney,

That is an AWESOME 1911!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pappy,
I have a feeling that S&W could very well fit the piece with a magnum cylinder but just won't do it so you would have to buy another piece.

From what I understand, the manufacturers make the barrels to 22 magnum specs (reduce inventory). There shouldn't be any problem in chambering a 22 LR cylinder to magnum

Just my opinion.

It's not that I am unhappy with the 317 22LR, I packed it a very long time and shot a number of forest grouse with it. However, the rat shot from the 22LR doesn't compare with the 22mag rat shot. The 22mag rat shot will take a grouse at 30 feet, but the 22lr won't. Plus a 22mag hollow point has almost as much punch as a 38 Special. Anyway, hoping my local gun dealer can score me a 351PD.

Pap,
I hope that you will be able to get a S&W 351PD soon.

Bill Jordan,in his superb book No Second Place Winner extols on the value of a lightweight snubby in 22mag. And this was in 1965 when the book was first published and there wasn't the selection of 22 magnum ammo at that time like now.

My favorite "snubby" is the North American Arms Black Widow.

Here are my two .22 pistols:

Ruger SP101

Walther PPK/S-22

I wish I could get a .22 Magnum cylinder for the Ruger.
