Long time since I read those novels!

Looking online, they say 007 carried a Beretta 418 in .25ACP at first.

Then a friend of Flemings wrote to him that 007 needed to be up-gunned to a Walther in .32ACP!

Not much of an up-gunning. But heck, everyone shot with either gun fell dead in their tracks! Maybe he only made head shots?

Only in the movies did 007 get outfitted with a more sufficient caliber, and in the most recent movie you would not believe the mayhem from sophisticated firearms. Bad guys still fall immediately, like before.

Bob,
You haven't lived until you touched off a 444 Marlin in a 6 inch Thompson Contender!!!

I would say that it is pretty much......."a religious experience"

It only hurts....once.

Wayne, Is "It only hurts once" because you will only shoot it once and put it down? Nice ppk by the way. I have a beater ppks in .380 I can't say what the marlin is like but as I get older I don't enjoy the heavy recoil much anymore

Never shot a 444, but I did shoot my friends S&W 500. Thought I would have to visit the dentist the next day to reglue my loose fillings!!
I wouldn’t say it was a religious experience but I did say a few words than pertained to religion.

I shot the T/C for a magazine article way back when. Shots for the magazine were basically dry fire then for poops and giggles I decided ti fire one live round.

Yep,that was the first and last 444 Marlin I fired out of that T/C.

But........some years later,I got a 444 Marlin 16 inch bbl for my T/C and had a shoulder stock on it. Big difference. Recoil was somewhat there but not really that bad.

I don't even want to know about what a 500 S&W would be like.

I guess the trick is to get the bear to shoot it?????

Yet,I have no real problem with shooting my Ruger Alaskan 44 Mag but now that I am (quite) old, pretty much prefer the milder calibers.

Here are a couple doe I got with my 500 Magnum last winter. Was only planning on getting one, but the 2nd one ran a loop and ended up right back in front of me, so I dropped her too.
