I found this photo on an old hard drive. The grips in the photo are not original. I put the Pachmeyers on it when I thought I would shoot it. I never did shoot it and put the Hogue (I think) grips back on it and put it back in the box. It's a beaut!

Hi, I love my Classic. Mine has a 5" barrel and one of the reasons I purchased it was the easily changed front sight. I tried brass/gold, the original red and white. For me the white insert really stand out and helps me get good groups, YMMV, regards, Mike

A lot of folks seem to do better with the white insert. Seems to stand out and be picked up easier.

The Beast of Bray Road, also known as the Bray Road Beast and the Wisconsin Werewolf, is a purported humanoid wolf-like creature allegedly witnessed in or near the rural community of Elkhorn, Walworth County, Wisconsin. It has since become a part of Wisconsin folklore and has been the subject of multiple books, documentaries and a 2005 horror film.



Named for the farm road in which it was first allegedly sighted, Bray Road, reports of the creature in the 1980s and 1990s prompted a local newspaper, the Walworth County Week, to assign reporter Linda Godfrey to cover the story. Godfrey was initially skeptical, but later became convinced of the sincerity of the witnesses. Her series of articles later became a book titled The Beast of Bray Road: Tailing Wisconsin's Werewolf.

Reports of a similar creature in the neighboring state of Michigan also tell of an alleged wolf-like humanoid, the Michigan Dogman.

I will say this, when me neighbor was tell her friend that she was having problems with her Sicilian Donkey; I though she was referring to me. So just call me the beast, LOL , Mike

Here is the Classic with the proper grips.

There was a time when I put Pachmayr grips on all of my handguns IF the grips did not have the Pachmayr logo medallian in them. I would cruise around the gun shows picking up new old stock Pachmayrs sans medallion.

I really do love hunting with these two .44 Mags. I’ve owned and taken the 629 Classic to the whitetail woods since about 1994 and switched the stock grips out for these Hogues almost immediately. The red dot in the Leupold mount is so accurate that this rig truly makes one almost too confident; at least out to 150 yds. The Hogue grips fit my hands so much better and really make it a pleasure to shoot. The Ruger was a real surprise birthday gift from my wife and shoots as wonderful as it looks. As I’ve always loaded my own shells I shoot only mid-power loads; have no need to shake the guns (or my hands) apart, and nothing I’ve ever hunted and shot seemed to notice.
