Tom there used to be a long gun range in Shreveport.....not sure now.
I have dies & conversion kits for calibers I don't own but are popular.....never say never.

Wayne,

Where I am located you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a pine or oak tree.

Tom,
.
Guess you do have a bit of a problem there. Nice area, just not conductive to long range shooting.

Pretty much the same here in New England. Average hunting distance is 50 yards with most being way less than that.

Squirrel shots,20 yards..maybe.

In my state, handgun hunting permitted but up to 22 caliber (meaning 22 lr/22 mag) so it is basically for small game.

Airguns up to 22 caliber and no suppressors allowed for hunting.

Rocky,
You don't see many Model 27s with 5 inch barrels.

I got a used Model 27 way back when ($85.) that had a 6 1/2 inch barrel.

Before going to 'Nam,I sent it up to S&W and had them cut/crown the barrel back to 4 inches and also move the front back as well.

It went to 'Nam with me and later on in years I had it Metal-lifed and then sent it to Magna-Port for the then new magna-port process.

Metal-lifed....now that's going back a bit...I had a 600 Mohawk metal-lifed way back when....still have it....great gun!!! .308 also found a plastic/fiberglass stock for it....back then, you didn't have the choices you have today....here is a Walther .22 I also had "metal-lifed"

Correction....I think that the Mowhawk was "Parkerized"...the walther was definatly Metal-lifed....

Rocky:

That 27 is Eye Candy for sure!!!

And, I have one of those Walther PPK/S-22s.

It’s a little picky on ammo, but with CCI mini mags, it runs smooth and is fun to shoot.

My dad gave it to me when I was 18....about 50 years ago...it was used then...I have since passed it to my son...he took a pig(on the run) with it a few years back....the model 27 is, in fact, one of the most wonderful guns that was made by Smith...I still do like my model 52 as well!!
I've got a picture(of the pig) somewhere...BUT I can't seem to find it right now
