My Mom would make what she called, "summer salad ". It was a hot salad, temp wise, with fresh green pole beans, small new potatoes, fresh tomatoes, and sweet onions, all mixed with mayo, salt and pepper. It is still one of my favorite things. I saw it in one of the White Trash Cookin' books.

I know when I was a kid I heard the term “Alley Apple” while visiting St. Louis.
They are known as a brick everywhere else.

I made Dutch oven celery, mushroom chicken thighs over rice. We had a shower this afternoon and temp is down to 74, now sunny. Hope everyone has a great 4th weekend. God bless America.
