Great post Pappy. Coach, that sure is right, at least that I care to count. Too many.
Thanks

Wow Pappy...thank you for the insight...and I thought we "Boomers" had it rough with only 3 TV channels that we had to get up and change, and hold the ears "just there"...

Interesting list!
I was born in 46 and have always considered myself in the first year of the Baby Boomers, so one of the "First Ones".
But (there it is), most of items on the list are familiar to me.

Multiple members on the telephone party lines - you had to know your ring combination.

My delight at building a crystal radio and getting a station late at night when signals propagated.

Admiral Byrd and Little America expeditions that inspired me to join the Navy and winter-over in Antarctica in 1968-1969.

My Mom and Dad buying their first color TV when I enlisted in the Navy after a year of college.

In high school and the announcement when Kennedy was assassinated

The turmoil and changes of the 60's.

Good things like camping every week-end with no crowds and enjoying the outdoors

Being sent outside when my parents had enough of the kids and being told to come back at supper time

Yep, 2 shorts and a long, was our party line ring. I too, made a crystal radio in Cub Scouts. Fun, carefree days.

I'm likely the youngest guy here (Generation X, kids of the Boomers) that had a party line growing up.

“Won’t make a long list, BUT,………”

As I thought about your father’s recent death, Dennis, and the sorrow and pain that you have surely felt and continue feeling, I strayed into thinking of my own father’s death, and my grandfathers, and on to others who have died and have been very important to me…….many long ago and some especially close in the past couple months.
I very much hope that your sorrow begins to lessen with the passing of time.
I sincerely apologize for straying from this very important topic Dennis and do
continue to ask GOD to help you in your grief.
Very Best to you and your loved ones.

Respectfully,
Duke
