Yeah - It isn't much ($10), but brass & red IS chargeable. Not sure about all red; they used to do that, but not sure if they still do. All black is definitely still an option, and is not chargeable.

Jerry,
Red, white & blue...all black or all red are the only choices you have. Brass & Red or Brass & Black are chargeable options ($15.00 at present). How about this : Order a Model #23-4 1/2"
A) Thumb Notches (standard)
B) Stainless (Option #1)
C) Brass single hilt (standard)
D) Brass spacers (Option #2)
E) Micarta handle (Option #3)
F) Brass "Crow's beak butt cap( Option #4)
G) Wrist Thong (Option #5)

You will get the Model #22 styled handle (very similar to the "border patrol") automatically, when you order a "Crow's Beak"....and you still haven't gone over your limit! Something like this handle configuration.
Best, Capt. Chris

Capt,Now that's a possibility. Can the shop radius the crows beak a little or is what I see is what I get? Thanks 29R

You could "request" a rounded butt cap. Althought it is unusual on a crow's beak, it may be possible. The shop would have the option of doing that...or not.
Best, Capt. Chris
P.S. It's sort of like requesting "smooth" or "large" stag. Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't...CCS

I have a block of Westinghouse Yellow Linen Micarta and looking into some silver furniture for a Model 5 that I would like to have built. I currently have an order with the factory, but it's shipping date isn't until 2013 (yikes!).

Is it possible to order this (with the customer supplied material) through an authorized Randall dealer and shorten the delivery time? If so, any dealers anyone might recommend....or if any dealers are interested, please let me know!

One other question, would the following measurements for the Westinghouse Micarta be acceptable for a Model #5?

Measures : 1+1/4"Th. x 1+3/4"W x 5+1/4"Long

Thank you.

Doug,
Your CW material is probably not Westinghouse micarta if it's indeed linen. Westinghouse micarta aka Ivorite was a paper laminate. Your model #5 with a 1/4" tang will require a block of 1-1/8" X 1-1/4" X 4-3/4". CW specs must be within 1/8" of requirements. Your piece of micarta measuring 1+1/4" x 1+3/4" x 5+1/4" will need some triming.
On a lighter note, Bo Randall once said:
"GM has a factory, Randall is a knife shop "

Doug,
First of all...It's the Randall "shop"...not a "factory". Bo Randall jumped my a$$ once about that and told me: "Buck knives has a factory. This is a knife shop...and don't forget it"! And that's the "cleaned-up" version. O.K.: That's out of the way.
What area of the country are you in? Let me know and I can direct you to the "Authorized" Randall knife dealer in your area. Most are, like me, a couple of years behind. I am currently taking orders for the first quarter of 2010 thru 2013, depending on what folks would like to order. This will give you an idea of the amount of time some are behind (or ahead...depending on your point of view).
As far as silver fittings are concerned...Sure: No problem! They are installed, by quote, depending upon exactly "what" and "where" you want them installed.
The handle material needs to measure: 1 1/8" x 1 1/4" x 4 3/4" for a Model #5-5", 6" or 7". If you want a longer Model #5-8", you have to go to your sized stuff. The actual measurments required are as follows: 1 1/4" x 1 3/8" x 5".
I hope this helps. Any questions?? Name, email and phone # are at the bottom of my posts.
Best, Capt. Chris

Capt.,

Thought I'd run this past you before I called to order. Model 14,CDT, leather w/ grips, drilled hilt, rounded NS buttcap (over duralumin for balance [neccesary ?]), thong (wrist type), sawteeth, all black spacers. Appreciate your time.

Run it by me? O.K. It's just a good thing you didn't run it by the Randall shop...because it would have been turned down. Page #6 of the catalog, under the Model 14, in the "CDT" section tells you "sawteeth are not available on a CDT". Sorry.
Also: Did you want a brass hilt with #18 holes? If so, it will not match your nickel silver butt cap and the whole package would be better off in matching brass. Hope this helps.
Best, Capt. Chris
