Charles,
What do you consider reasonable? I have had great dealings with the folks at Gulf Breeze. I sell fossil walrus, but only when ordered on a Randall knife from me. It is too expensive to offer the handle material "only" for sale.
Best, Capt. Chris
P.S.: This question is in the wrong thread as it really does not have anything to do with the Randall shop or ordering policies. I would ask that it be moved to the "Buy...Sell...Trade" forum...CCS

Greetings, Capt!

I am considering ordering a Combat Companion. I believe this "stock" non-catalog model comes with black micarta, brass double hilt, and a commando shaped handle. These specifications are included in the price of $380 in the new catalog, but I was wondering if any are considered “chargable" options. I know I would like Stainless, but if I asked for other changes, do I still have 4 more?

Thanks!

Any "CDT" fighting knife (i.e. a knife with a double hilt) can be ordered with a "commando" handle at no additional charge. Whatever else you want will not change that. The "Stock" Combat Companion comes with a leather (straight) handle, carbon steel blade, brass double hilt and a duralumin butt cap, just like a Model #1. The price is $345.00.
The $380.00 reflects the $35.00 charge for the black micarta. "That" is a "chargeable option" and counts towards the "5".
Best, Capt. Chris

Will the shop put a name plate on to an existing knife? It's a black micarta bph.

I apologize for not answering this question earlier. Lots of excuses ( "On the road", etc.) but the bottom line was I knew the answer...and I didn't know the answer. I knew the Randall shop could install a name plate, after the fact. I didn't know the "cost" differences. Here goes:
Installation of a name plate in the handle of a Randall "when ordering" intially is $45.00. The letters etched into the plate are charged at $2.00 each, with a maximum of "5" allowed.
Installing a name plate as an added on option to an existing Randall which has already been completed is $50.00. The lettering charges remain the same. Hope this helps...and again... sorry for the delay.
Best, Capt. Chris

No Problem I know you are busy, thanks for the reply. Is the font for the plate etching the same in style and size as what gets etched on the back of the blade?

It is "not" The letters are quite a bit larger. If you look on Page #29 of the new Randall catalog you'll see an example of the lettering.
Best, Capt. Chris

Hi Capt.,

On a Model 10, can you request silver pins, rather than the brass pins that are normally used?

Thank-You...

Capt, Can a straight back 10-3 still be ordered?
I just bought one from a friend. It has a straight back, rosewood handle, two pins and a thong hole. The pouch sheath is marked Randall Made Knives Orlando, Fla
I am curious about time era of this knife.
Thanks,
Jim
