Duke, Larry, & Walker are the winners!

It is a Buck Scrape and he visits it every day (or night) this time of the year.

Over my lifetime, beginning when I was about 14, I've killed 6 bucks at this exact place.

I haven't killed one there in years simply because my Bride likes to look at them more than she likes to dress and cook them. She considers them OUR deer. She would rather drive her golf cart around the place and take pictures of them.

We own an interest in a 800 acre tract about 20 miles East of us and she doesn't mind hunting them there.

YEEHAW!!!
What’s the prize?!!? Are you picking the Randall or do we get to pick our own?
Kinda’ like you, I’ve had to pass on the biggest Bucks I’ve ever seen ‘cause Maggie doesn’t want me hunting off my deck. I’ve left my driveway about 0400 God only knows how many times over last 35+ years with 25-40 bedded down in my yard, including 6+ bucks to drive 90 mins. to my family farm. She says it just “makes her too sad to have me kill her deer.” So not a big deal for a long time now AND there really is a huge difference in shooting and hunting.

Here are 2 from last year that she would absolutely not let me shoot.

I begged but no cigars!

I even told her that I had seen them eating her muscadines!

As a rule here, deer seldom top 200 lbs. However,a few years ago a bowhunter harvested a 305 lb white tailed buck at a state forest just 6 miles from me.

Try hauling that out of the woods!!! Uphill both ways!!!

It rained hard all night Friday night.

Yesterday, there were fresh pawings, tracks, and green twigs all around it.

Full moon is November 8. The rut will be in full go by then.

I was hunting elk above timberline in Colorado years ago and met up with two other hunters that were headed back down.
They reported they had seen a great little herd in a small valley over the next ridge.
The older one commented
You better take your salt and pepper, because that is the only way you are going to pack one out of there.
I really understood that phrasing and have used it numerous times since
