I wanting to switch it up a bit so when I order my next 5-6 woodcraft style can I get a maroon BP micarta? Seems in years past this wasn't available but as I read the catalog today it seems like it is? Maybe I always had it in my head it wasn't because it's not available on a full tang...

Assuming double-hilt is standard with ST, does NS1+SQH (as-pictured) count as one, two, or three options?

A double hilt may be standard on models with sawteeth, but a single hilt can be ordered on many models that come standard with double hilts.

If you look at the the various models in the "Knives Of The Week - Models #1-#28, you can find a number of models, standard with double hilt, custom made with single hilt.

The knife you asked about has six options, although one is a non-chargeable option, the squared hilt. The other five chargeable options are: sawteeth, nickel-silver hilt-single, black micarta, border patrol handle, and wrist thong,

"does NS1+SQH (as-pictured) count as one, two, or three options?" One chargeable option & one non-chargeable option.

"NS1 (nickel-silver hilt-single counts as one chargeable option.
"SQH" should have been "sqh" (squared hilt) and counts as one non-chargeable option. Non-chargeable options by virtue of their name do not count toward the five chargeable option limit.

One can order, for example, a model with:
five chargeable options (ST, NS1, BM, WT & BPH)
two non-chargeable options (sqh [squared hilt], & all-red spacers (or all black)
two chargeable sheath options, black and left-handed
AND one non-chargeable sheath option: no-hone sheath.

The only options that count for the five-option limit are the chargeable options to the knife.

Awesome, thanks for clarifying.

One more question about hilt options and I'll leave everyone alone for a week or two...

When going from brass lugged to nickel forward curved (using a model 12 an example), is that one chargeable option or two?

Thanks again.

I believe that would be two chargeable options, but Chris or Scott need to step into this enquiry.

If you were going from a lugged brass hilt to a nickel-silver forward curved hilt, I suspect two chargeable options.

Primarily because you're going from brass to nickel-silver.

IF it is two options, the price will be:
Option #1. Nickel-Silver Hilt-Double (NS2) @ $30.00
Option #2. Forward Curved Hilt (FCH) @ $25.00

Remember there are five big Bowies, all Model 12's.

For example, if you are talking about the "Bear Bowie", it comes standard with a brass forward curved hilt. If you were to order it with a nickel-silver forward curved hilt, I believe you will only be charged for the nickel-silver hilt-double @ $30.00, since the forward curved hilt is standard with that model.

Hope Scott will clear the air, I am easily confused. Where am I?

Hope this helps,

Buck

There is no charge to change a lugged hilt to a curved forward hilt on a bowie...there would be a charge for the nickel silver though...

Thanks, Scott. I knew I had a 50 - 50 chance of possibly but slightly being right or wrong, depending on the roll of the dice on three throws.

I seem to recall from a few years ago (and my memory may very well be faulty) that the wait time from the shop for a Triathlete was much shorter than for a catalog knife. Is this still the case? Or is my old-man memory playing tricks on me?

I searched the forum and couldn't find the answer.
