Well, you Florida boys are in for it, and even Orlando. The Orlando airport is shutting down as is Disney World. Is the shop shutting down too? My brother lives in Tampa, but he is hunkering down, as he as a whole house generator and a chain saw. What about the rest of you Floridians?

The forecast changed yesterday from a direct hit on Tampa to the storm making landfall around Port Charlotte south of us. That will spare us the worst, wind-wise, but those folks further south are going to get hammered. Landfall is expected at 2 PM, as a Cat 4+, so we’re basically just getting started on what will be a nasty 24-36 hours, particularly In SW Fla.

Y'all keep your heads down. My youngest daughter is in Seminole (Clearwater basically) and my oldest is near Christmas, Fl. She will get a direct hit but it will be diminished, by the time it hits there, to a Cat #1 or tropical storm. I'm, most probably, going to be ok... Thanks, Capt. Chris

My wife and I had built a house in Cape Coral that we sold 3 weeks before Charlie took the roof and ruined the house. Took subsequent owners 2 foreclosures and 6 years to restore. Our friends in Punta Gorda had winds drive posts through their storm shutters and through the house while they sheltered in one of their bathrooms. Weather channel is saying Ian is the first bad hurricane in 100 years in the area. I call b.s. and then they say that Charlie was only 7 miles wide and Ian is half the state. I just can't imagine that, but the pictures from Punta Gorda and Ft. Myers are showing extensive flooding, power outages, and wind damage. My thoughts go out to the folks that are still there, and hope they come out of this safely.

Me-n-all my family are AOK! I got nothin' to speak of: 1 1/4" of rain and 30-35 mph winds. The Euro model was right on as the cold air moving down from the NW steered Ian out of Florida sooner, exiting around Titusville. FYI, Capt. Chris

Hope we hear from Bob Teates soon. He probably has no power or internet. Hopefully that's his only issue. On a more pleasant note: I've been in communication with Scott & Caroline at the shop and...just a couple of hours ago...they got facilities up-n-workin'! How 'bout anybody else? Let's hear from ya'. Best, Capt. Chris
