Trying to get a handle on this. Back in the day, if a knife had thumb notches, probably 98% of the time it had a flat top hilt. Makes sense from a comfort/usability standpoint. I imagine that is why it was designed in the first place. Now, you gotta request it?

I think the mission memorial was also available in a darker tan.

Brown G-3 and some brown canvas micarta were the most prevalent. The "Jade" and "Off-white" are more scarce.

James (BMK) made these sterile blades up to my specs. They were, most likely, "Pre-Kit-Etched" blades. Specs as follows:
* Hammer-marked by BMK
* BMK on 1 side and RMK on the other (usual) side stamped.
* Steel hilts and butt caps
* W.W.II style leather handles
* Double hilt on the #13-12"
* Single (Sorta) hilt on the #12-13"
* Copper-pinned butt caps
* Custom leather by BMK

Here's a recent pair, just received from James Behring, handled with cross-cut Mammoth tooth. I took these (quite-not-so-pro) photos with my old Canon G-12 point-n-shoot. 8 or 10 Megapixels, while my mirrorless "R" series Canon was charging up. Still: You have a pretty good idea of what this pair looks like! Happy Tuesday!
