When you get a good (nicely-figured) piece of walnut it's hard-to-beat. IW has an excellent chance of having excellent figure as does thuya....Below in an example of nice walnut. Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris

If anyone is considering lignum Vitae as a handle choice...it will crack..yes a wood so dense it sink's in water...and to my knowledge you can't have it stabilzed..crack's. I have 2 with crack's..that were installed by the RMK shop..and were a Dealer Special.
Edited to mention that I supplied the wood and the RMK shop is not responsible for customer supplied wood.
