TonyLaPetri Knife Enthusiast Registered: 10/05/05 Posts: 6900 Loc: Glen Head NY	Hi All, It's been a while since I last posted. Life, ETC. I was given a piece of musk ox horn by a good friend in Alaska who helped me get an old #8 re-handled with it. Work was done by Mark Knapp in Fairbanks AK. David, As far as I know, it wasn't stabilized, but it was found by a State Fish & Wildlife official ... found it on the north slope of the Brooks Range which is very dry, almost dessert like and it seems to have been there for a few years. The knife maker, Mark Knapp felt it was fine, so ... we'll see! BTW... I asked for that handle shape and some kind of spacer arangement with a good sized piece before the musk ox ... the rest I left to Mark whose work I admire. Even when stabilized, I have had it shrink in cold (cool) weather conditions..."BUT"...(There ya' go again)...it is totally awesome material. No 2 are exactly alike and the patterns are remarkable (The way God made them)! Mark did a great job on your T&B Tony, and you should be quite proud of it! I'm jealous! I would hope that, in the future, Mark would initial (or mark in some way) his re-handles but there's no question of the quality. Good luck with it Gumba! Stay Sharp, Capt.
