In the latest issue of The American Rifleman there is a nice write up about the Chiappa Badger TDX (take down extreme) that interested me.

Can't get any more basic and minimal that that.

I was wondering how that would work out as a camp/trail/canoe gun.

Any ideas???

I haven't tried out the Chiappa Little Badger yet.
I liked the Marlin Papoose and still keep the Ruger 10/22 Takedown.
If I see a Chiappa at the next Tulsa Show, I might get it to see how it compares.

I really like the idea of this. My only experience with "survival" take down guns is a charter arms ar7. It jams about every third round. I really want to try the Henry version, heard that they fixed the jamming problem. I really wanted a marlin papoose, but that ship sailed many moons ago.

Brent,
When Armalite first made the AR_7,it was fairly good but did have the jamming problem. In ;74 Charter Arms took over the manufacturing rights and managed to have the same problem.

When Henry Rifle took over the rights, they made several significant improvements.

Mine is super reliable with high speed solids. Also it now can hold three magazines. Has better sights. They also offer a good carry case for it and a survival kit which is quite comprehensive

If I don't want to use the HS ammo and want silent plinking,I can use CB Longs and being they will not operate the semi auto action, can manually load and fire.
