CAMP KNIFE
Characteristics of a Camp Knife
(all or most of the following)
- Fixed blade
- Suitable to clearing thin vegetation
- Suitable to preparing meals
- Suitable to handling general camp chores
- Blade length: 6 to 10 inches (can start at a 5-inch blade)
- Full tang
- Guard (at least a single guard)
- Thumb serrations (jimping) on top and in front of the guard
- Pommel sometimes desirable
- Natural materials are often used for handles
- Stag is an excellent choice.
- G-10 or micarta can be excellent choices
- Consider orange for when you drop the knife
