I don't remember any stories about people being attacked or eaten by the pythons. But I would not put it past them.

There were articles online recently about a village in I think Indonesia...a lady went missing, her husband found her slippers, and then they found a python(?) with a huge bulge. They killed the snake and retrieved her body.

We do have some crocs in the 'Glades...not just the narrow-snout ones that are indigenous, but I think African variety that gets really big...they were somehow also brought in by fools.

Incidentally, one invasive lizard that has become numerous is the African rock lizard. They are colorful, probably up to 12 inches long, and fast. They would be more of a challenge to take out with an air gun than iguanas.

Dang, too many mobile targets it seems! And the list grows.

Seems that everytime you turn around,another invasive species pops up to make things INTERESTING.

Snakehead fish are creating havoc with the fish population,Birmese Pythons causing untold damage,Iguanas destroying stuff.

There is a young lady down in FL that is doing a pretty good job taking down the Iguanas. Goes by the name of Iguana Sniper.

Asian Carp (copi) are a problem. The "silver carp" variety jump out of the water when a boat engine cruises by.

I checked that out, Wayne. She seemed a better shot when the iguanas were in the trees. Never saw anyone hunting in a bikini top before. She sure enjoyed her efforts...

Jessica uses a Brocock PCP 22 which is a pretty high end piece.

I have an Air Force Condor PCP 22 with a Donny FL suppressor.

From a rest at 50 yards I can shoot dime sized groups all day long.

Apparently down in South FL there are several outfits offering iguana hunts.

Not sure what the nuisance factor is for iguanas, but locally with the rock lizards they poop large poop and it stinks. One lady had them schooling up under a shed, and so much poop on her patio it was difficult to walk there.

One online article made it sound like they are innocuous, and only eat undesirable insects.

But the same lady watched them eat butterflies on her flowers.

And somebody saw one eating another of its kind that was dead.

No reason to think they don't raid bird nests, eat bees, and other things that should be left alone.

I checked into those Brocock air rifles...YIKES!!

I've purchased many a fine gun and knife for that kind of dough.

As far as I know, iguanas aren't a problem around here but I sure have a mess of chipmunks invading the garden.

I have never heard of the August Iguana Challenge. Sounds interesting but August is kind of too hot for me.

Go to Pyramidair.com and you will see that there are many air rifles that are pretty high end in the cost factor.

My first PCP is a Benjamin Discovery 22 that went for $300+ and you add the scope and bicycle type hand pump it brings it close to the $600. range.

That sometimes is my go to piece for squirrels during the season.

Now you have caused me to look into the Iguana Challenge. It sounds interesting.
