Got this one back from an old customer (& former member of my hunting camp lease). Can you see what's different?

For starters, one side of the blade has been 'pickled' while the other appears to be 'normal'!

Both are incorrect. The "shadowing" in my photo of one side of blade is intentional. Both sides of blade are of the normal RMK polish as it leaves the shop...(& It's not a Model #3)...
Thanks,
Capt. Chris

I'm counting 8 billable options with a modern spacer arrangement:
- Model 6 grind
- stainless
- thumb notches
- stag
- fingergrips
- brass/red spacers
- butt cap
- etching

Are fingergrips in stag allowed on a 3/16" knife these days?

I like the model-6 grind on the model 7.

The only FG's on 3/16 inch blades (nowadays) is a carving knife and an 11-4". Good catch on all the way-cool stuff Rob! Brown (nylon) stitched was tried by Gutchers for a very...VERY...short window. Strong as hell but RMK freaks wanted traditional white thread. I think brown was around late 90's or early 2000's. Greg would, most probably know as might Danny.
Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris

Brown thread was used for about a year and a half starting in January of 1998, we use the same thread today , just in the linen like color.

??? Is the Sheath mis-marked?

It reads 7-5, which should mean a Model 7 5-inch blade, but my old eyes suggest the blade is longer than 5-inches.

Especially when compared to what looks to be a normal length for the handle.

Also, observation Number 2...the leather thong at the top of the belt loop on the sheath.

Larry

Danny-N-Larry,
Danny: Was the old brown thread also linen, as I was told "nylon" by Dave? ..."&"...thanks for responding.
Larry: The knife "is" a 5", Model #7 with a #6 grind and the handle matches up to it perfectly. "I" put the leather handle keeper on it as "that is what I had" at the hunting camp, when I got the knife back...as there was none.
...By the way: The shop did a total re-finish on this knife as my old hunting buddy knew "not", how to sharpen..(or take care of stuff...or shoot straight)!
Stay Sharp,
Capt. Chris

Clarified.

Photos can deceive the eye.

Nice that you got it back.

Just received two new Stanaback Specials! Great new pristine white handle material - a much more brilliant white than the older Ivorite.

Capt Chris was kind enough to hook me up with the first of two new specials; one with compass in finger grooved handle and the other with the new etch "RKCC/ 1 of 40th" and black sheath, commemorating his 40th year in the arena of Randall collecting and dealing. Thank you, Capt. Much appreciated.

That makes three Stanabacks in my dispay. If I can manage to do so photos are included. Great knives. Love the Model 8 and the great white handles really stand out.

Well - no. I can't manage all the URL stuff and the pictures are in Picassa. I will post the pictures in the Randall Collectors Facebook location because they are very nice and I would like to show them off. Sorry for my inability to manage the digital age.
