The RMK shop may have issues with their Thuya Burl..."BUT"...(There's that word again)...I have sold hundreds of their fine knives, handled in their Thuya...and "never" had one returned for any reason.
It may give 'em fits in production...but afterwards? not-so-much. That's my dealings with it. Your mileage may vary.
Capt. Chris
PS: Below is a large block of Thuya, which was loaned to me by the shop...along with the 1st Hunter they made...FYI!...CCS

I have 2 RMK's with Thuya and no issues at all, and I live in a very dry Idaho climate. Pretty wood.

RW Wilson made those for me. RW made all the knives and hawks for the movie, "Jerimiah Johnson". Great maker/artist...RIP, RW.

OK Crew,
Wood's a "runaway"! No question! Now then: Although we've spent good bit of time talking about Thuya, please remember that the Randall shop offers a substantial array of various woods we can use!
Here's the list:
A) Ironwood
B) Walnut
C) Maple
D) Rosewood
E) Thuya Burl
......I would suggest we talk this out....Carefully choose...and defend your choice!
Let's go!
Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris
