A moose is an awesome animal. Very fast and very large! And I understand they can be very dangerous (cows will protect calves for sure).

Some time back,I was watching the TV program I Was Prey and a woman was out by her cabin,I think it was in Alaska where a cow moose came out and knocked her down and trampled on her.

From all accounts, the woman was posing no threat to her and I don't know if there were any calves near by.

The cow moose that came up to my cabin in Maine looked to weigh about 600+ lbs and I am certain that she could cause a lot of harm to me.

Your apostrophe characters weren't the normal ', so your post went into the 4th dimension.

I can't imagine the brilliance behind crawling in a random hole in bear country.

You just never know what you might find in a cave.
Had a friend hunting in the Colorado Mountains that stopped to explore a cave.
He found ancient moccasins, bow, and arrows.
They reside in a museum now.
Would like to know the story of how the artifacts came to be left by their owner.
Maybe a bear found him and he ran through the woods bare foot or is that bear footing it.

The photo with the man and the bear has been doctored. The lighting for the man and the bear do not match. I believe the background photo of the "cave" has had the images of the man inserted in the last photo and the bear(s) in the first and last one. JMHO

Jim--

I don't do Instagram.

According to the article, it is on video.

But I don't see a link in the article unless the hyperlink in the word Instagram might take you to this guy's posting...still image or maybe video.

I like the above post about the man finding Indian artifacts better.

Wow! The captain is very lucky to be fast cool
I saw the bear only 2 times up close, he just passed by, not interested in us (me and 2 friends). I can share what local hunters taught me:
Bear spray is a great thing, they have a very sensitive sense of smell and most bears will be scared off by it. If the bear is far away and approaching, one option is to spray yourself with the spray (skunk/possum-like tactics). A weapon is of little use if the bear is angry and decides to attack, especially female with cubs. You can't show fear outwardly like this guy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N8-hLtciZo

The best way is to be visible to the bear so that it knows that you are there and that you are a person. Wear a bell or a jingle, talk loudly, bears do not like the sound of metal ringing, that is, you need to periodically tap metal, maybe on a pistol or a gun. A good way is a flare or a flashbang grenade. Hold the flare in front of you and slowly back away. Throw the flashbang grenade at your feet, open your mouth and close your ears and eyes

A big problem is an untrained dog. Even if the bear is not interested in attacking and is passing by, the dog may break free or not obey the command and attack the bear. In this case, the bear may chase after it and come to the owner of the dog, and then it will be dangerous

With semi-wild, stray and simply aggressive dogs, a good way is a stun gun. They are afraid of the sound of lightning and run away in all directions. My friend's mother lives on the outskirts of the city, where there are many packs of stray dogs. They attack children and lonely elderly people. I bought her a stun gun. When the dogs surrounded her, she turned it on and everyone ran away, except for one very aggressive and large one, but she just held the stun gun between herself and the dog and it could not come closer than 3-4 meters, dog was afraid

Snake,
The stun gun sounds like a good idea but, unfortunately, many areas prohibit the possession of one by non-law enforcement.

Another good tool may be the Fast Strike Defense Tool made in MT.

It is basically a short whip and can pretty much be carried, discreetly, anywhere.
