Friends, a friend of mine from US is thinking to sell or not to sell a knife.
But he is interested to know the cost because it does
not know how to evaluate.
His message:
I have attached 3 photos but if not good enough, could try a different camera; maybe. You will see the bad news: I dyed the sheath red in 1950 and after 66 years some of the dye bled onto the grip. Maybe it would clean off but have not tried as don't know what to try. Other than that, is in very good shape; has been sharpened but used very little.
I do not have an invoice but do have the envelope and "catalog" Randall sent me in 1950. From that can see I paid $20 for a 4-7, $.50 Nickel Silver Hilt, Name Etching $1.50. Stag Handle $2.00 and Finger Grips $.50. The catalog is interesting, including the statement "PRICES ARE NOT SUBJECT TO CHANGE".
Please let me know what you think and if you can post it for me. I rather hate to sell but as I had not even looked at it for 40 years or so guess it is the thing to do or my heirs would probably sell it for $10.
I roughly estimated, at prices Ebay, AZCK and other.
I think it's somewhere $ 900-1100
But the shell is painted and stag took over the part of the paint,
there is name of etching, so I can not say for sure.
What are your thoughts?
