Following US withdrawal from Vietnam, I understand that RMK issued "Solingen Fighters" using the remaining blades made in Germany. I purchased a one of them in a non-original sheath. I was told the knife needed a model C sheath of the 1980-1993 era.

I tried it in a couple of model C sheaths I have with other Vietnam era knives and it did not fit snugly. The blade on the Solingen fighter is between 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch shorter from edge to spine than the Vietnam era 14 blades.

Hoping some of you longtime collectors can tell me if there was a special sheath for the Solingen fighter and how do I ever find one? It really is so much smaller that it wobbles in the sheath.

Also, anybody have ideas about how many were made in that group?

I'm puzzled and thankful for anything you can offer.

Thanks for those links. Kelly. I can never find anything when I search. And as an official senior citizen I always get lost.

I'd still like to know about a specially made sheath if there was one.
