I have a value question on this what I think is a 1950s Model 12 with 11 inch blade.
This knife used to belong to my friend's dad and he would like to know the ballpark value for it.
If I were to guess 3k?

What do you think?

Nice.i wouldn't recommend trying to sell that on ebay. You would do well to take it to the blade show and show it around there.

Thank you. My friend thinks it is worth $7k. Can someone please comment on its value?

Like Crutchtip, with his authentications, I don't value or appraise without first having the knife & sheath in hand..."but"...with no photos of the back of the sheath or stone, I recon a Heiser sheath...only because Smittys were not made earlier. The stone pocket has an early look to it, i.e. Clarence Moore. Is the back stamped Heiser?
Nice knife,
Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris

Cap is spot on when he says the best assessment wil only come from a hands on inspection.

I have a few model 12s of various lengths but only one of them has a sheath like this. Definitely a Moore sheath which is on the plus side for value...definitely used condition and I'd ball park it at 45-5500.

Your friend is welcome to think anything he wants about price but I think he'll sit on it a long time asking 7K.

I learned many years ago that the value of anything is what YOU can get for it on the day YOU want to sell it. Doesn't matter a hoot what anyone else tells you.

Tough knife to find...
