Here's a look at the handle a little more "up close".

Thanks for your reply Capt Chris.
They are both very nice knives

So how many chargeable options on your stag handled large fillet knife?

I'm guessing the stainless blade is standard.
The nickel silver hilt is standard but in reduced form.
So is there a charge for the single hilt?
The metal spacer definitely count, as a chargeable option
Stag is standard
Finger grips are chargeable.
The butt cap is and so is the thong hole.
The sheath is but it is not part of the knife.

So I make it 4 chargeable options on the knife or 5 if you count the hilt plus another for the sheath.

How did I go?

Here's the back. Only the big knife has thumb notches (I don't know why).

I was not aware of the thumb notches and the name etching, but otherwise I got it right.

So the closest I can come to ordering a knife like that, given that I don't want name etching, would be

1) Nickel silver single hilt
2) Aluminum and red (or black)spacers
3) Duralimin butt cap
4) Wrist thong
5) Thumb notches
6) Model "A" sheath (NHS)

Can I have squared off hilt and rounded but cap on this model?

Capt Chris thanks once again for answering all these questions, though they may be hypothetical they do a great deal to help me understand the Randall option system.

You're welcome...and it looks like you understand this one just fine! You got it right!
Best, Capt. Chris
P.S. This past month I ordered a "Large Filet Knife", set up the way you wanted it, including the sheath, steel, fork and felt case. The catalog price was $585.00. My customer turned it down, thinking that it was just going to be a "little over the carving set price". Wrong answer! It sold to the first person I called. Let me know if you have any other questions....CCS

Capt,

Can you tell me if this is doable. . .

Model 5-5
Carbon blade with sharpened top edge
Brass hilt with squared top
Brass-black spacers
Black micarta handle in border patrol shape
Thumb notches
Wrist Thong
Brown model A waxed-leather sheath

Thanks a bunch!

Also, is the sharpened top edge the same as the sawtooth/no sawtooth option?

Keith,
Just got back at my desk after a marathon Bama trip. I was in Birmingham yesterday afternoon...drove to Pensacola, down to Ocala. Today I drove 300 miles (round trip) to vote.
Your knife is doable. Thumb notches, squared top hilt are both "NON" chargeable options. The "TB" is quite different from the STN. "TB" keeps the same blade shape as the standard Model #5. Best, Capt. Chris
