Merry Christmas to all. It has been a long while since I've visited this forum and I come seeking advice. I have an 18 month old grandson and another grandson on the way. I'm considering putting a knife on order for each. Off the top of my head I'm thinking a Model 5 with a 6" blade. I think that would be a good general use knife for camping, etc.
What other models and lengths should I be considering?
Thank you in advance.

I'm kinda partial to the 23 - it's rugged, not too big, and adaptable to many hunting and camping uses. (That being said, I gave my young grandson a Model 20.)
I agree on the 28 as an excellent all rounder for camping/hunting/hiking. The 3/16 steel is not as heavy and an excellent handle with the BPH Micarta. Exposed full tang and wrist thong are standard.
In some states,a minor can't be in possession of a knife with a blade more than 5 inches in length. That's the case in nj.
In Colorado, no "concealed carry" (sheath may or may not count) with a blade longer than 3.5 inches in length. Exemptions exist for outdoor activities, like hunting.
And also, get caught on school grounds with a knife (any knife), felony. (C.R.S. 18-12-105.5)
I'm an un charged felon.....got suspended in the 5th grade for a knife at school...while I did not think of killing the teacher, as today, I just had a pocket knife in my pocket, and somehow, got noticed by the teacher...I'm sure I exposed it....to act like a big shot... :-)Rocky
