My dad just passed away on Monday at the age of 94. We are going through the process of cleaning out his room and I found his Randall 5-4 that we had given him some years back for his birthday.

It is in need of a little TLC, so I think a trip back to the Randall shop is in order:

I'd give it a good run with Flitz first. Some of that patina will come off with some rubbing.

I'd leave it "as is". Your Dad used it. "You" use it. Sorry for his passing. Mine's been gone for 2 decades now and I still miss him.
Best,
Capt. Chris

My condolences on your loss. I would also leave 'as is' if I were in your shoes.

Condolenses.
I agree with leaving it like it is,Every time you grip the
handle you'll also be gripping your dad's hand.
