The blade stamped blade was forged prior to the ricasso stamped version. Assembled? Probably prior also but not guaranteed.

If it was assembled how could it be hot stamped? Doesn’t look like any room to fit thee stamp on the ricasso.

If blade stamped blades were marked after forging, it may account for the usual "weak" strike. The first 3 stilettos weren't stamped at all

NONE were stamped after forging. The blade stamped forging is earlier than the ricasso stamped forging.

What I was saying is it is possible the blade stamped forging was assembled after the ricasso stamped forging. Probably not, just a blade that was sitting there and got used after the switch to the thong hole. I have a couple.

Remember, RMK didn't make allot of #2's during the war.

Since we are on subject of WWII Stiletto's ... are there any Stag double pinned ?
I know there were Fighters and Hunters made.

I would never say never, but my guess would be no. It has been guesstimated that WWII stiletto production was approximately 10% of fighter production. That being said, and knowing there are probably only 5 or less known dbl pinned stag fighters from the era, that leaves us with little if any probability one was ever made.

Plus, the stiletto came out in April 1943, 6 months after the "permanent" switch to leather handles during WWII.

Crutch, any idea if one stamping location is more common than the other?
