Thanks Tony & Warren,

I got this one from a collector in the upper Midwest about a year and half ago. Except for the handle material it is pretty much identical to the one on page 113 of Sheldon's book. It is very obvious that this was never a user except maybe to open letters or something like that. I cleaned up the duralumin butt cap and hilt a little and I mean very little but that was it. I haven't touched the blade at all. It seems Nickel Silver never really develops much patina so I don't think knives with NS hardware show their age like brass does. I don't know exactly when it changed but there seems to be a distinct difference in the satin finish on the older knives when compared to newer ones. At first I wasn't sure what kind of wood the handle was but took it to the shop on my last visit and confirmed that it is Rosewood.

These two are both Eight inch blades, picked up fresh from the shop on 07May2009. Maroon Micarta, Brass scalloped flanged and collared. The other is Ivory and Silver.

I guess the angle makes one look longer, but they're both 8s.

Wally,

Nice pair of 2-8's. That must have been one fine trip to the shop. Good luck!

Best,

Just picked this 2-5 up. The handle is what drew me to it. African Fluted Buffalo handle, brass forward curved hilt, stainless blade and duraluminum knurled butt capp and a custom Greg Grutcher croc sheath. The funny thing about the sheath is it's not marked croc on the back. Tried to get a clear closeup of the sheath but the batteries died on my camera.

A beautiful knife, and you got to it about one minute before I did. I hate it when that happens.
