My guess it the handle was put on incorrectly. Being an ordered knife and not a stock item, I doubt grips done on the wrong side would suit the purchaser.
Since the knives go into the sheaths trademark down, why would the grips be on the opposite side?
RMK does not put many FG's on too many model 2's, so I don't remember any other way to place the grooves. However, we put a Border patrol Handle shape on a 2-7 this week and it came out looking verrry interesting!
How could the FG's be on the wrong side on a model 2? It has a double edged blade so you just turn it over don't you? Am I missing something here? I guess I could see them not being down when on the trademark side bothering a collector that planned to display it in a specific manner, but as a tool (which is what it really is... we have made them collector's items) the FG's on either side wouldn't make any difference in my mind. I think I must be missing the obvious here. ~dale

Another Nice Model 2, 7"
After a friend saw a Model 2, 7" I recently acquired he asked me to find a Model 2 for him as well. I just received this one today and think it is really pretty. I would love to keep this one but my wife is about to put me in the Time Out Box. Oh Well! at least I will be able to see it from time to time.
I have a Model #2 8" (that GTR repaired the tip on and repolished). He really liked the knife, Sighted down the blade several times, was smiling pretty good.
Still I think the Model #2 7" is a beautiful knife and would love to own it or a new one like it.
