When I was a fishing guide in and around Yellowstone Park, I packed my #8 every day and used it every day. No telling how many trout I cleaned with it. My only complaint is the need for a pouch sheath as the keeper strap is always facing towards "stuff" that unsnaps the keeper. I finalyy took my #8 with me to the shop one year and had an extra keeper around the hanbdle with the snap facing the opposite direction. That seemed to help but it's still a pain to try and get the knife back into the sheath and get it all snapped up when a pouch sheath is just so easy. You will love the #8 as it is light and very handy.

Tony and all of You guys, thank you for your proverbial courtesy!
Mike, the one on the keeper strap is a very interesting observation, I'll get a pouch sheath, although not through the Shop.
best,

Pap--

Agree with your comment about the keeper strap facing forward on the single-hilt knives, and the tendency for it to catch and unsnap and also getting bumped accidentally with the hand or arm and coming unsnapped. It is not easy to come up with an alternative keeper strap of this type on a single hilt knife--although it could help to simply wear a right-hand sheath on the left side, thereby making the tag end of the strap face to the rear. But that might seem awkward to some of us in terms of extracting and re-inserting the knife.

I called the Capt. yesterday asking he knew whether a Model F pouch style sheath from the catalog without a stone pouch might be had for one of my knives (but I would actually like such a sheath for some other knives as well). No luck, although I suspect I could talk some of the sheath makers into doing one for me--It would not be an RMK "package" but would satisfy my preference on how to carry some of these knives.

Hey Guys,

It's been a little while since I bought a new Randall... had a lot of fun putting the options together for this 8-4X and ordering through CCS. Thrilled with the way it turned out! It's a fancy fishing knife, here are the specs:

- Stainless blade
- Golden Box Elder handle
- Brass Scalloped Collar
- Brass Scalloped Coolie Cap

Hope yall like it - have a great week,

Jay
