I picked up a pretty neat Model 8 recently. Rick informed me that it was one of the 1st 10 Model 8's that he scrimmed for the shop in 1981. Several unusual features aside from the scrim itself:
1. 4 & 5/8" blade (Sheath is marked 8-4.5). Essentially the same grind as a Model 23 or a large Stanaback Special. The only difference being that it was ground from 3/16th inch stock.
2. Black and white spacers typical of a very early Bowles scrim or a Leshhorn knife.
3. An Old Yeller handle made from two laminated sheets of Westinghouse paper Micarta.
