At the time this old Model #10-7" was made wrist thongs were not standard. It's got about 30 years on it (or better...cannot tell from the photos). The old Johnson roughback sheath helps to date it.
Nice knife...Best, Capt. Chris

"It's got about 30 years on it"

Here's the sales description on "Ebay" of my latest Model 10:
" This is a new never used Randall Model 10 Saltwater fisherman knife. The knife has a 7" blade and comes with it's orginal sheath. Be sure and see my others auctions running this week. Good Luck!!!"

Let it serve as a good warning of what's happening there.

I believe my price was reasonable, but if it's truly 30 years old, it's a very well seasoned and lightly used old Randall. But nowhere close to "New, Never Used".

Buyer Beware?
Damn straight!

Model 10-5, original Randall Sheath ( I hope) Black Micarta Handle. At least this one was described correctly as "Used with some Handling Marks". It looks like it was cared for well whatever use it saw.
Will be a Kitchen worker along with it's 7" Older Rosewood Brother.

I'm guessing Johnson sheath, with out seeing the back of it. Heiser was almost history by this time, but it could be a Heiser. Stainless steel blade (Pre "S" trademark stamp on those Model #10-s) I would venture late 50's or early 60's. I believe the micarta is black and just showing it's age. Best I can do with the photos presented and, of course, not having the combination in front of me. There will be some more pipe up with an opinion, I'm sure.
The split loop, on the front, under the handle may have the maker's name. It could say "Heiser and have the "10" for model and the "5" for blade length in seperate locations, above and below the split loops.
Best, Capt. Chris

Capt,
Your dead on with the sheath....Johnson
The Micarta looks black to me, just as you say, aged.
Thanks

Thanks Rocky,
If the sheath is a Johnson then that puts the knife towards my later dates, i.e. 1963-65 "ish". I don't know exactly when the shop went with an "s" stamp on these blades, but I believe the first Johnson sheaths (More correctly: Maurice Johnson) showed up around 1962-63.
Best, Capt. Chris

Capt,
Thanks for the info!!
It's one that has been bothering me for a while, just never took the time to post it up.
He had a few, this one's never been used....don't know why, he was never bashful about using any of his Randall's. Maybe he just never got around to it, or maybe he liked the aluminium handle better he sure used those. I remember as a kid, we had one in the kitchen. He had broken the blade on it and sent it back to the shop, and they re ground it. I guess it started out life as a 7"...ended up as maybe a 41/2".
Thanks again
:-)Rocky

Here's another older one. This is one of the few coming out of the shop with stag handles.
