If it were an older pattern it could have started out with a “1”, but for the most part they are a “0” or a “Prototype” when they are first made.

In answer to your question, if the knife was today more than likely it would be marked PROTOTYPE. The first knife pattern is now marked with prototype and the numbering starts at #0 and stops at #9.

Tony, it is the one you made for Buck Woodard. It is around 4.3 inches closed.

I got a bunch of photocopies of a similar case whittler with it. I am not sure if Mr. Woodard requested a similar knife, or what. It is numbered 1.
