Check out this post in the Stoddard's Special thread: http://www.knifetalkforums.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=45930#Post45930

The top three are "thin" and the bottom one is "regular".

Scroll down a little to see Mr. Kaufman's post of a "thin" and compare to the Sergeant Special here: http://www.randallknives.com/knives/sergeants-model/

I am gonna go out on a limb here without seeing the knife in hand, but my suspicion is those teeth were added after the fact. That is not a typical "clip" grind with teeth. The bevel of the top clip is standard with the teeth cut into the wide spine. Also consider the trough of each tooth which is very rounded, not typical either.

I see a difference now.
I did not know that you could order a thin versus a regular.
I see in the options:
BB - Brass Butt Cap
DB - Duralumin Butt Cap
NSB - Nickel Silver Butt Cap
and the 2 types of Crows Beak Butt Cap
or even a DOB for a Domed Butt Cap on a concave handle
I have seen rounded butt caps and squared butt caps, but I am not sure how you designate the difference.
All very educational!

It's one of the things that are different between the Sergeant's Special and the Stoddard's Special.

That immediately came to mind when you posed the question because my Q2 2016 order was a Sergeant's with Stoddard-like options.

My invoice looks like this:
SERG
NS1
ASP
IW
SFG
WT
***NOTE*** Thin Butt Cap

Why? Because it's flared at the butt?

Awesome set-up, would make a great camp knife or hunting companion. Like a 23 on steroid's; thanks Captain Chris!

Warren,
I have been building this knife "in my head" for months. Good to see it in the flesh so to speak.
I will do a rounded butt cap (is that available in "thin"?), metal spacers and rounded top guard, but that is close!
Thanks for the pix.
