After further thoughts over the weekend and seeing the posted knives lately, I have decided to "lower" the last years of the model 23 to the late 70's - early 80's for sure.
Reasons being, that the thick red was discontinued around the same time I started at RMK, ('83), except for the bowies, and that red with the "gray" interior was in use with that thick gray one...mostly...
I would say that the knife was made pre-84 for (almost 99.9%) positive...
Thanks guys... This was a belated xmas gift from myself(Better late than never, right?), & I'd been drooling over it for several months... Actually, I still am, but at least now I can wipe the drool off myself!!!... I DO love that light colored stag.
Here's my latest that I just received on Friday. Maroon micarta, stainless steel, nickel silver hilt. I wasn't sure how I would like the micarta but it looks great and feels great in the hand. I can see how it can become a favorite. Another great Randall in my opinion.

Nice model 23's Mike and Steve, I have a few myself and I really like them a lot too. I have another one coming in a few years and will be identically configured to a model 19 coming later too.
