Hey Team,

I was able to pick-up my first Jack Crider Special! It's a 5" with what appears to be brown or maroon micarta?? Any insight you all could share would be appreciated as I'm still learning. I hope everyone is doing well.

Jay

I've always liked the Crider Special, but don't have one in my collection for some reason. Nice looking example.

Really a nice trio Guido! smile

Jay, I would suggest yours has a maroon micarta handle, with 440B blade. It's the first Crider Special I see without the thong hole and with the "FLA" stamp. Sheath and no smoothing at the end of the handle would suggest me that it should have been made before 1990... probably mid 80's.

Nice shot Guido - that is a fine lookin trio! The sawteeth "pop" with that brown background.

Stefano, Thank you for the learning lesson - I really appreciate your knowledge sharing! There is a lot to learn about these knives and how to date them.

Have a good one guys,

Jay

I'm pretty sure I had never posted it before... perhaps because it is a horrible picture!
In any case, here are my Crider specials...
best,

Daniele, those Crider are so beautiful!
The 5" version is my favourite smile

The only complain I have about the Crider is about the sheath, that not retain the knife as tight as other Randall sheaths do.
