Captain Chris.. It makes my day anytime a "Stanaback Special" is discussed or shown, with the 1/4" stock and 4 1/2" blade, it reminds me of a 'Grizzly Bear' claw,it's my personal belief that there should be one in every RMK collection.

The bittersweet thing about ordering a "slab side" Stanaback is...Look at the incredible amber stag handle! "And"...Just think how much nice bark had to be removed in order to shape the "slabs"! Oh well: It just shows ya that the Randall shop doen't use up their "not-so-good" stag on the "slab sides"! Best, Capt. Chris

Another popular option is #14 style (underneath) finger grips. These FG's allow for left or right hand use. They look and feel just great! Best, Capt. Chris

The slab sides and #14 fg's also allow for "all" hand sizes to hang onto this knife...and the "wrist thong" allows you to use the knife safely! Best, Capt. Chris

The final photo shows the "slab-side stag" handle from the stern. There are, at the present time, only 2 Randall knife models available with "slabs", so..."PLEASE" Do not call the shop and ask for it on anything else. My "Stanaback" Spl., in both blade lengths, and the non catalog "Cattleman". Well: This about does it for my "Special". I apologize for my inept photography, but I hope ya'll enjoyed the pictorial anyway! Best, Capt. Chris
