Thanks to all who have decided to participate in this year's Christmas knife. We've had an overwhelming response. We have 23 members who have stepped up this year. Thank you all. I will be receiving the knife from SilverKnife (who has been putting an embedment in the handle) any day now, and will then be sending it on to tomthbomb. Tom will be handling the presentation of this year's knife. I will include the names of all of this year's participants with the Christmas card and in the presentation post. If anyone else is interested in participating, it's not too late. Just let me know. And a huge thank you to Randall Knife dealer, Wayne Buxton, for helping us to obtain this year's Christmas knife which is a Buxton Fighter. We all truly appreciate your help, Wayne. Thank you so much.
Now for future Christmas knife plans. As most of you know, Mr. Tom Clinton, a well-respected, longtime Randall Knife dealer, passed away earlier this year. Tom was a wonderful man who loved our country and our service men and women. Tom stepped up on several occasions with help on procuring and providing knives such as the Manchu Warrior project. Details about that project can be found
here.
He also helped with our Iron Mike knife, details here:
http://www.snopes.com/photos/military/burghardt.aspLeanna and Gary Clinton are continuing Tom's Randall Knife legacy. And in continuing his legacy, they have generously proposed to donate a Randall knife to the "Dirty Dozen" to be given to a service man or woman as the Christmas Knife, beginning in 2009. We already have a couple of very strong candidates for future recipients. We will still have a Dirty Dozen roll call, and any money not needed for postage and etching of the recipient's name on the blade will be donated to the Special Fighter Program. I would like to thank the Clintons for such a wonderful gesture. As stated before, Tom cared deeply for American service men and women. And I know he would be proud that his patriotic legacy will be continued by Leanna and Gary.
Thanks,
Kevin
