Don't know how many of you have Ruana knives, but I recently picked this one up on Ebay. This is an older Junior Bowie with the "R.H.Ruana" stamp but without the "M" stamp. That usually, but not always, indicates a 1980-1984 build. I have sent a copy of this picture to the Ruana shop for verification. The interesting thing about this knife is the parry strip. Notice that it not only goes along the top of the knife, but also has an "eye" next to the hilt. I have seen many Ruana's, but never one like this. The grind is also different that other Jr. Bowies that I have seen.

What a great find Pappy.

If you don't mind, could you tell us what you paid for it.

I would bet that knife would be worth at least 2,000.00.

Actually, according to a real Ruana collector, it was made in 1982-1983 and is "uncommon" but not rare. Still, it being uncommon is probably worth in the $800-1,000 range. The picture on ebay didn't do it justice and didn't show the unusual parry strip. I didn't know I had bought an "uncommon" Bowie until I received it from the seller. The lady selling it was just blown away as to the $550 I paid for it. Looks like we are both very happy.
