The other new (really new) news is the Randall shop's inclusion in their new "35th" printing of the catalog of an all-new ivorite micarta!! It is pictured on pages #19,20 & 21 (the #3 centerfold) and looks absolutely fantastic! Scott assures me that "previous" problems with other white stuff (black flecks, cracking and checking, etc.) do not exist with the new ivorite....and that is what it is to be known as: "IVORITE"!! That's all the news that's fit to print. (Thank God: I'm tired)
Best, Capt. Chris

That's great news I have several knives on order that need to be "specked" I see this material in my future...Wonder if the shop put a etching on the blade for this material like "AI"

Griff,
This material is "ivorite"..."not" alternative ivory. It will not be etched with any special denotation.

Just a slight correction...This material is not micarta, it is a phenolic resin. And we have found it to be most durable. It is a real pain to shape, sand and polish, all the qualities needed for great strength! I'm sure everyone will love the "new ivorite"!

Well...Forgive me...I correctly called it "Ivorite" in my "second" post...Geez, Scott! What a stickler!! Thanks for the further clarification...

Jeff,
The new "ivorite" will be available on small to medium knives...and bowies up to (and including) 9" blade length.
Best, Capt. Chris

Could this material be used on the smaller full/exposed tang models (like the new #28)?
