Best, Capt. Chris

Time passed by since the Capt. disclosed this new material to All of us on 10.30.09
Now, many of us received their RMK with "NEW IVORITE" alredy and use them in many ways or...just keep in the safe...
My question is: how to clean this new ivorite from "dayly use", hand grease...? Are some specific colors stain(blood) more than oders?
Nice to know from Capt. or DW or...just from your direct experience.
Thanks for help
best
Guido

Guido--

At the risk of stepping in and offending someone, in reply to your question about baking soda--Yes, it is bicarbonate of soda, same stuff.

However, I would not recommend baking soda for polishing anything with a high polish finish on it--it's cleaning action is based on its abrasiveness, and it is too abrasive and likely to scratch a highly polished surface due to the inconsistent size of the particles and our inconsistency in how hard we might rub it on something we want to polish.

Actually, I hope to buy and try the above referenced product. I have never heard of it and want to see if it is better than Flitz. Based on my limited experience, I rate Flitz above Simichrome, and Simichrome above Brasso and similar metal polishes. Simichrome sometimes seems to have more gritty abrasiveness to it than is appropriate for many high polished surfaces, and Brasso definitely is more abrasive than Simichrome.

Not sure why but my shop supplied ivorite is not as white as what is posted here. I am somewhat disappointed that it is not the same as what I am seeing on the forum.

Thanks everybody for suggestions!
Tom, reason why I'm looking for some cleaning stuff is due to the fact my #23 is whiter than #11....some handling(I suppose) stained that knife.
You can easily see that on my pic...
Both knives don't come directly from the shop.
Best
G
