It was a much simpler time and no where near the money today.

Tony had a drawing when I went to my first Blade Show, maybe not the year before, I am not sure. Before his drawing his table was way in the back 40 of the show….I think he sold all his knives but he was not as well known as he is today. At one show he sold all his knives before they hit the table. A customer had driven a long way to buy a knife and was very disappointed that all were sold before the show was even started…so that is why the drawing was started.

My first drawing there were something like 25 to 35 cards. I think my name was drawn twice that first year.

Reese did not have a drawing then. He didn’t start until certain people(me) snagged some killer knives on the way down. Seems some people didn’t think that was fair.

Here is a shadow gent’s in the same pattern.

This little freebie in D-2 from Reese was made and carried by him to see how Micarta would hold up without stainless liners. I was at a show and one morning and he just handed it to me and asked me to field test it…..I did

It's amazing how well the miacrta holds up.
(the Micarta is even milled like he would stainless liners)

I had a 3" Reese shadow like that once.Like a DOPE I sold it.It was offered back & I passed,too,DOUBLE DOPE!
When offered the small Tony Bose Gents by a Gentleman,I acted on it,but I still miss the Reese ,too.

It's interesting to notice how thin or slim that first shadow was made. He may have made it wider, like the one in your pic, to use that washer on the pivot pin.

btw...the smallest Gents knife I have seen is 2 1/4"...swayback in pearl

I have seen a few 3” Wharncliffe Trappers in pearl, just like the Gents, but two blades and very small, but not one in the peanut frame.

I am not surprised about him saying that…I think he likes making larger knives...but ya never know.

I have a question,and maybe it is not really a legit one.
I have heard that Tony refers to the 3-1/4" single swayback,like the one I posted,as a "Swayback Gent knife",and a two blade version,a "Swayback Jack",but I've only seen the 2 blade in the 3-5/8" size
Would a 2 blade 3-1/4" Swayback,be called a "Swayback Gents Jack"?
I'm not trying to be a wiseguy either.Any chance on a picture of such a knife?Thanks John,great thread.
