What a cool knife, Joe, all the way down to the lanyard.

My point was the Randall moniker of "#4 Fighter" does not fit the grind. I guess they had to call it something.

It looks like a mid-war Commando, which by the way is what the RKS 4 was patterned after.

If not for the finger relief, this would have only one "peak" as you call it. Same with the RKS 4 and the #4 Fighter with the grind similar but a little different when compared to vintage pieces.

So, if I understand this correctly, We agree that the RKS-4, the Commando, and the #4 Fighter are similar, but a little different.

I just am trying to figure out where the Little Bear Bowie comment you made fits in the scheme. (Along with naming the #4 Fighter a "Fighter" comment.

to me, a double hilt Little Bear reminded me of the SOG Bowies. Now that the 4 Fighter is out, I don't disagree that it resembles the SOG plum blade type allot, save for the upsweep of the blade. A SOG knife has a clip point like a model 1.
I guess the "two peaks" is the only real similarity

There was a very limited version of the WWII Hunter that had a double upsweep. It was a double hilt and sharpened clip away from being a small Commando:

Is the bottom one the one you got from me at Blade years ago? cool piece with stepped choil.

Anyway, those resemble the Little Bear quite a bit.

I got yesterday. Excellent work of masters RMK!
I like the blade balance, fine tip, very comfortable handle smile
Knife took up his duties - sliced meat, vegetables, fruit,
whittling couple of cuttings for hand tools.
Sharpening from store is not blunt, excellent steel.

In next time order with stainless steel.

It is interesting to 4F model possible reduced hilt?

p.s.
Sorry for the blurry photos

p.p.s.
To transport the handle has been dismantled via my frend - Joe Tousignant. Clay is very strong connects the skin layers.
Had to use a gas-torch. Leather slightly burnt.
Soon I will be polishing the handle - will smooth surface and beautiful. Or install other material handle.

So, Gary Randall had never set eyes on a Commando until one day a customer brought one in for repair, and up until then, only knew of them from one photo of Robert Taylor wearing one?

And I am very sorry the above knife of Desert Snake had to be disassembled for import. Almost as sorry that I never saw the knife apart. I would love to see details of end of tang, and the bottom/hidden side of the aluminum butt of the knife.
