Ken,

Nice pair.

I guess I didn't realize that the Model #12 - 9, 14 Grind could be had with the #25 handle and all NS hardware considering the 5 option limit. I think all the similar ones I have seen with a NS FCH had an aluminum butt cap.

Great Photos as usual.

Tom,

Cap should correct me if I am wrong, but I count the following four chargeable options on that #12-9 with #14 Grind: Stainless Steel Blade, Forward Curved Hilt (the Nickel Silver material comes free when specifying the #25 handle), #25 Handle, and Nickel Silver Butt Cap.

....and still enough room for a wrist thong.

Stag Scales on Bowie

THIS IS NOT A COLIN COX KNIFE

When I acquired this knife I had no idea who Greg Cox was much less Colin Cox so it is absolutely not my intention to rehash the story behind Colin Cox as enough water has already passed under that bridge. Greg Cox was the maker of this knife not his father Colin Cox.

Greg Cox has made a number of different knives, mostly smaller hunting knives that I have seen sell on EBay although I have not seen anything of his for a couple of years. This is the only large bowie style knife of his that I have ever seen.

I acquired this knife off EBay several years ago because I liked the looks of it and I thought the price was fair. The exposed tang with stag scales on a big knife is one of the things that caught my eye. The handle may not look that large in the photos but actually it's quite thick.

10"(actually 10 1/2) 440C SS Blade Mirror Polished
The top bevel is not sharpened
NS Hilt
Full Exposed Tang
Stag Scales
Bronze and NS Mosaic Pins
NS Lanyard Fitting

This is a big knife, the last photo is side-by-side with my RMK Model #12 - 9, 14 Grind for scale.

Tom,

That is some great two-piece Stag.

To continue with more photos, I took photos of one of my #5-4" knives this morning, the one with a Stag handle:

Good Looking Knife Ken,

With possibly a few exceptions, I think I like the rounded hilt better than the squared off one.

I always opt for a rounded hilt when ordering one.

I took new photos of my Ruana 5 AD the other day. This knife has Elk Stag handles.

I came to the somewhat shocking conclusion that it is possible to become mesmerized by Stag, as evidenced by the #23 that I just snagged from Plaza Cutlery (their photos, not mine):
